It's called employment, it will be mostly driven on weekends so who cares about some fuel price? I could drink the money instead and have less fun.

As for the price of it, the mods done to it are worth a few $$$$$ so its not a bad deal in my eyes.

With our two Mq Patrols, one shorty and one lwb, both get around 11l/100km when driven easily.

First thing I would do is remove the flares as 33's will hit on them at full artic,(replace with bendy rubber ones) remove the front swaybar. Remove the sidesteps as on these models they are generally bolted through the floor and will tear out if you hook them hard on something. With mine I also cut a section off the rear bumper as it was prone to drag- these have a lot of rear overhang and get hooked up pretty easy- my rear quarters certainly show this haha! Also on full artic with any amount of steering angle the 33's will hit the guards (mine are hand flared out now-ie hang off them and pull like bug.ery!). They also hit the blinker backings so something to watch for as I believe the blinkers have the potential to be ripped clean out if not careful!

The best thing about these is they are generally reliable, pretty tough and best of all cheap so if you roll/crash/wreck it's not a huge loss.

Engine swaps...f..k that. The sd33 has plenty enough power for four wheel driving. Even in non turbo form. Only those who like sitting in a pool of mud spinning all fours in top gear would need more power.

And there is no way in hell you could get a half decent GQ for that money.

Oh I forgot to mention that they are extremely rust prone. My swb has minor rust. My spare parts swb is completely rusty just about everywhere. Some models were zinc dipped (galv??) and won't rust very easily but not many as the paint peeled and Nissan had to replace/respray these vehicles. My old mans lwb was dipped and the paint has literally fallen off! But no rust anywhere in the car.
