i dont know what ur budget is, but how bout a german diesel.
this was my 98 turbodiesel benz. had 370 tq at 1800 rpm. still got 20-30mpg depending on how and where i drove. in the 12-18k range. ![]() i now have this, 05 passat tdi and gets 35+ all day. i have an ecu reflash and pull 310tq. these are in the 18-25k range. ![]() the jetta tdi's make some sick tq in the 5 speed version with a chip and some simple mods. and still gets 40+ mpg. u can pick up a 01-04 in the 10k range. if thats still not ur price range u can look at the older passats and jettas. heres a 96 passat for 3500$. 200K+ miles but thats just broken in for a tdi. ![]() u will be good for around 500K miles with minimal maintance if u keep up on normal maintance. just remember too, most will say but diesel cost more. look at this way. if gas is 4 bucks a gallon and the normal gasser gets 300 a tank. if diesel is 4.50 a gallon and goes 6-800 miles on a tank. it only cost u .50 a gallon to go another 300 miles. get me? i love american v8s also. but with prices looking to hit well above 4 bucks almost 5 dollars a gallon for fuel. id like to get every penny worth. i go 2 weeks back and forth to work before refueling. and if ur still hell bent on an american v8. chevy is the only way to go since they put out the most fuel efficient v8s. but those are the new vehicles. again... if ur budget allows. heres some options. |

my friends TDI gets 48mpg on the hwy now that its broken in and about 35 city, but our diesel price is $4.65 per gal. here so it costs him like $68 to fill his tank.
I'll stay w/ my 38 mpg honda civic, tank of gas lasts me 2 weeks and costs me $26 to fill it up w/ reg. unleaded.

we could go back and forth all day about whats better. i was just giving him some ideas. u can go 700 miles on 1 tank with a diesel for 70 bucks. or go 300 miles for 30 bucks but fill up 2 and half times. basically over time u will see savings in ur wallet like i did. most peeps that own gassers its hard to see it. but after the 3rd tank uve already saved 20 dollars and have a more powerful car for those passing moments.

keep in mind, im broke, im 17, and the maximum i would spend would be 4-5k, thats maximum, ive been looking at getting a mid 80's turbo 4banger stang, they can make descent power cheaply with a turbo upgrade. and it would be descent on gas. if i could find a real SVO for a good price, id buy it in a heart beat
