I disagree. In my opinion, Bose is all hype. I dont claim to be a hardcore audiophile, but I do know that Bose is not held to high regard amount those that are serious about sound... esp for the prices they charge. After listening to their systems I wasnt that impressed. Their reputation is built on keen marketing, not sound quality.

Awesome bang for the buck choice would be a yamaha 5.1 home theatre setup.

He is only allowed (by me) to watch 3 hours of TV per day, one in the morning and 2 hours in the afternoon/evening....but his mother lets him get away w/ breaking the rules.

Bose is not ALL hype, just overpriced IMO. Bose does sound good, but there are systems out there that kill the bose. Onkieo (sp?) is a killer system at less than 1/2 the cost of a bose, pioneer makes good systems as does Kenwood ( receivers mainly ). I am leaning towards the newest pioneer system that has 2 wireless rear speakers, 2 mid channels, 1 sub woofer and it pumps out 1200 watts, has a 5 disk DVD player, 1080i/p upconvert, all for $600. That is a killer deal IMO.

Onkyo is also a great system, and Bose is NOT all hype at all

my dad is pretty much a stereo/big tv freak

in our living room (dads calls it our "theater room ) we have the new Bose 5.1 system ($3-4k ish) with our 50+ inch big screen (not sure what size it is exactly, but its a flat screen rear projector Toshiba) and some high quality speaker wire (not the crap that comes with it...the speaker wire effects the performance so dont go cheap with it)

and in our family room my dad has a Onkyo 7.1 1200watt system ($700?) and for sure the Bose out does it with its 5 speakers than the Onkyo's 7....but the Polk sub owns the Bose's


He could have bout me a LS1 with all the money he puts in his systems


and i have my dads older Bose 3-2-1 system in my room and it sounds like 20 speakers...even our garage has a sound system, a cheap one though
