good deal on a computer?

just bought a new computer... (first one in like 4 years!) my friend said i got an ok deal, but since im clueless about this stuff, just wondering what your opinion was. Five minutes after i placed my order, they removed the option to get the smaller memory and HD, which would have made the minimum price $550.

thats a very good deal considering Vista premium is $159 just by itself. Now, most likely it wont be a gaming powerhouse with only 1GB of ram (get another 1GB b/c vista uses ALOT of mem) and integrated graphics but as far as a good gerneral purpose PC you did well.

Go under Control Panel>System and get your "windows experience index" and report back. If you ahvent worked with vista before this index is a goofy computer rating system that analyzes your components and rates them out of 5.9. Why 5.9, you ask? No clue but i'll tell you this, the only thing on my new rig not to get the top rating is my hard drive...and that got a 5.8

Thanks man! I havent used vista before... but I plan to get more memory and a graphics card separately. The only game I really play is Dota (wc3) and old school stuff like starcraft

Thats such a weird rating system. 5.9? couldnt they just use a round number, like 10? haha.
