When you compare an RX7 to its original market, in Japan, the only competitors at the time were the skyline and the supra, and only moreso the supra, if you're looking at the earlier models. When the RX7 was sold in the states, it offered comparable performance to a Porsche 944, now do you consider a Porsche 944 a sports car? If you answered yes, you better damn well consider the RX7 a sports car then, and if you answered no, why is the Porsche 944 not a sports car?
