Dedicated Tremekian

I am going to buy one once school starts in like a week and would like to know any experiences people have had with the different companies. Who drops the most calls, who is the cheapest etc. Any input is appreciated.
Ps: I do not want a contract with a monthly bill because i will be using my phone very little and I do not want to pay 30 bucks a month (the cheapest i found) for it.

I worked for Virgin Mobile. They offer good plans and no hidden fees. I don't know what area they cover in the states, but that was the only no-no i found: the reception wasn't optimal everywhere, even dowtown montreal because their network is not yet well developped.
Other than that, they offer nice cellphones, free answering machine/call display/call waiting, 5 cents txt messaging to other virgin mobile users, reasonable plans and most of all, their customer service is number 1.
