Opinions??

So my dad was talking about selling me his 00 Stang GT 5spd coupe today. Granted I cant buy it now, this would be down the road(6 months or so). He takes amazing care of it(oil change ever 3k miles WITH synthetic??!), but at around 80k miles he thinks hes hit that part where he doesn't want to put money into it again(plug, suspension ect). Me going to college down in central jersey every day, I may need a car a bit more reliable(though my passat has given me no problems yet, it does have 157k miles). So talking with him a bit he got down to if it was worth it for me, it would probably be sold to me for about $5K or so, all options except smokers package plus K&N FIPK . Here the things going through my mind. Insurance, I turn 18 in 2 months and I live in NJ, gonna be a pretty expensive. Also the repairs for a new suspension and whatever else he mentioned. On the good side, I do know everything about the owner(duh my dad), he treats his cars amazingly...warms it up, rarely redlines it, constatnly washing it, cleaning the engine bay out always.

I told him I'd have to see around the time he was thinking about getting rid of it, but it is a mustang and I've had a certain love for them. Ugh such a hard decision. So let me hear what you guys would do....
