Default my friend wants exhaust, chip and maybe intake on his Accord..help

This is for all you honda dudes. My friend has a 98 accord LX or EX, one of those, its got a V6 VTEC engine, and he wants to get exhaust, chip and possibly an intake. Hes not going for sound, he just wants power and the budget is around $500. I figure that i should ask you guys and get an opinion for accord owners instead of just going and buying borla or something. Any recommendations would be great. Once again, exhaust is first priority then chip. Maybe if hes got money he will do the intake.

One other thing, i know some cars have ways to do things like remove a silencer or gut the airbox, i was wondering if there is any of that that can be done to his accord, something FREE i mean. We are looking for power gains here.

Well tell your friend this. Exhaust isn't a bad idea to put first, they will free up a little power. I would do the intake before the chip. Chip's usually don't do much. For his car you should tune the vtec on it. It's not something for the noob at heart though. You'll have to know what your doing. Like I was saying with the Chip. Chips usually give you minimal power and usually it's more of the "mental feeling your car has more power." now remember, intake and exhaust won't give you much addition to power, you'll be lucky to see 10hp tops. If you really want power, invest in a turbo kit, save your money. More power means more money.

Cone air intake :P performance spark plugs :P
Take out the catalyser and put straight exhaust line (if legal)
you can get the computer tuned, its "like chipping" but settings on the comp are actually changed amount of fuel and sucked in air (lean/rich)
but 5 bills wont get you far...
