how bout never, they had to buy out gibbs to have competive cars, theve already bought out the truck series

Ok I looked it up and I guess they made the V8 up to '82 but it never came here. I did some googling and found this
Toyota did there homework and incorporated the best features of Chevy, Ford and Dodge into there all new push rod V8 Nascar engine.
It shares many internal dimensions as the Chevy V8 as well as the bellhousing bolt pattern. In other words, a Chevy transmission will bolt directly up to a Toyota TRD Nascar engine.
