Thanks for the clearification.
Over here we use the metric system, thought this vid was done in the US where the imperial system is used. Did I hurt your feelings with my previous post with the TRUTH ? Seeing as most people will be disappointed with its MPH, and future performance, i guess they will be talking about what a "great run" rather than a ring king. |

cars in japan were/are(not sure if they still are) limited to 112mph FACT.it and it uses GPS to unlock the limiter on circuts.i thought everyone knows that.? if it has been imported it probly still has the limiter onit.

^ doubt that....I have ran an Evo that was definatly going faster than a cheesey 111 mph. So I guess that it only implys to the new gtr as there are to many vids floating around the web that show other imports much faster than 111 mph.

i know for a FACT that cars from japan have/had(still dont know if they so) limiters on them. ive got a few friends who have imported skylines/scoobs from japan and they came with limiters on them and 180kph clocks what = 112mph.cars that came from the japan market and still have the limiters can easy get them taken off.it doesnt cost much to do it.
there is a difference between a car thts made for japan market and whats made for america and other countrys..as they have speed limiters.. EDIT.- it is speed limited as i thought. Japanese GT-Rs are speed-limited for the street: As has been widely reported, unless it's driven on a preapproved racetrack, a stock Japanese-spec GT-R is limited to 180 kph (111.8 mph) with the factory settings. GPS sensors in the navigation system track vehicle position and communicate with the ECU. Try to exceed 180 kph, and a warning light will appear on the instrument panel. Only shutting the car off and restarting it will get the light to disappear. GPS Determines Car's Speed Limit - O'Reilly Radar

I'm pretty sure he is saying cars that count as imports here are in fact limited in japan. That's the way I read it anyways.

yes hence why i said ''CARS IN JAPAN ARE LIMITED''..meaning cars in japan. not in america.
JDM cars that are in america would of had limiters on... but anyway.seeing as the GTR is limited to 111mph. do you think it would do a much better time?? i wonder how long it was on the limiter down the 1/4

Wait a second Ukunt........ stock run is a stock run right?
When we debated the Stang vs STI on another thread and I point out the "tire factor" it was "tuff" for the USA manufacturer. Now here the Jap manufacturer has apparently put on a restriction for what ever reason on the car, the STOCK test is invaild or misleading ? HA..... just pointing it out to you, to show how SMART you sounded before. I'm all for simple tweeks on vechiles to see what they can do Jap , German or USA cars. Anyway, never heard of Jap cars limited to 112mph, but dont doubt it from your posts. My guess if it were limited to 112mph, using the "120mph" manufacturer estimate, it probably hit that speed at the 1100ft mark, leaving 220ft left for it to accelerate, and would shave 3 to 4 tenths off the 11.67 sec 1/4mi time. No offense but a speed limiter and still running 11.67 is way different than piece of shit factory tires.

Absolutely.
But people like us, like to mod our cars to get their full potential. If this Nissan can do alot more, i want to know, and not have some half ass info which can sway my opinion. Actually glad Ukunt posted the "limiter" issue, i never head of it until today, I'm also here to learn about other cars, so I can make the proper decision tomorrow. |
