/\ you have a very good point, i guess all the bullshitting will have to wait till the zr1 comes out and there is a shootout.
-with the exige/elise you are still talking a mr platform, like the 911. 2wd but with weight over the power wheels

Ill still stick to the GTR, yea power to weight is USUALLY the deciding factor, but you are testing AWD against a FR platform, and unless you get more weight over the rear wheels, IE. MR platforms, im just saying the ZR1 is going to have a hard time putting over 500whp to the ground.

whoa dude... so your sayinh there is a 120hp loss from the crank to the tires?? not smart..

I don't think you'll need the ZR1 to do it, I'm willing to bet that when they test the actual "out of the dealership" box stock Nissan, the FULL Ring time won't match the regular Z06.

which is why i brought up the example of MB SLR vs veyron to illustrate that lower weight can make up for awd even with a front engine/rear drive layout on the track. There are plenty of high powered rwd cars that manage to put the power down to the ground...

fyi - 911 is not a a mr platform.. the engine is situated BEHIND the rear axle, which is theoretically an inferior layout for handling. Years of evolution have managed to get this set up to work. You have to look beyond theory and to execution before assuming blanket statements about engine layouts and handling capabilities.
