For any other car, ppl would dismiss it immediately as a typo, but for the gt-r... its somehow within the realm of possibility LOL.

"I should have said there are 4 current production cars faster then the GT-R around Nurburgring.

But at 0-60 in 3.5 seconds and 11.7 at 149 mph in the 1/4 mile I'm not sure how many cars are faster. List off the cars that you know of faster to 60 or faster in the 1/4 mile. Now how many are under $100,000?

Even the most potent version of your Viper the 2008 SRT10 ACR which is barely street legal by the way does 0-60 in 3.7 seconds. It ties the 1/4 mile at 11.7 but its only going 124 mph.

The 2003 Ferrari Enzo was faster although not currently in production it did 0-60 in 3.4 seconds and 1/4 mile in 11.3 seconds at 123 mph. The 2004 porsche GT did 0-60 in 3.7 seconds and the 1/4 mile at 11.1 at 130 mph. I know these are not production cars but they are some of the fastest cars ever made so if the GT-r is in between them to 60 you can understand our excitement. "

More stupidity found here: Corvette Killer is here!!! Nissan GTR!!!!! 1/4 mile - 11.7 sec. at 149 mph
lol. i'm sure the 08 viper can do much faster in nurburgring than z06. so it's even possible to beat the new GT-R. the ARC viper will be a monster in cornering. it can get up to 1000lbs downforse on hight speed cornering.

The comments on the thread were not what you wanted, rather a fairer test comparison.
I see you prefer the STI- it's a nice car, between it or the Evo I'd take the STI , but the Stang over both of them.

jesus, why would you test an awd turbo "rally" car vs an american "muscle car" its like apples to oranges. sti=snowy, or dirt roads, tarmac ralley conditions, or a race track(not a strip)(out of the box) and Stang=fast straight line (ish) and getting better in corners but far from a track worthy car out of the box.

-I would like to see real times AKA vids, of the new gtr but with real everyday drivers not test gurus. but then again who average driver has 80k to spend on a car. Anywho, ill stick away from the internet forum racing and benchracing for now till non-tested numbers come out. AND I do think the ZR-1 wont stand a chance on the ring with the gtr. power is nothing if you can't put it to the ground. There is enough problems with z06's staying on the road as it is with 505bhp.

Thats a pretty bold claim. Who says the corvette cant put the power to the ground? They seemed to be able to put it to the ground fine enough to post a verified 7:42 at the ring. Keep in mind that run was with run-flat tires (absolute crap) and prior to the rear shocks being changed this year which has made the car much easier to control at the limit. Porsche needed to outfit pilot sport cups (r-compounds) to the 997tt / GT3's to keep up. While I am well aware that a GT-R test mule allegedly posted decent times at the ring, I'll wait for the showroom production version to put up a number before opening my mouth.

I said it before and I'll say it again - the GT-R will be fast and respectable.. but the expectations that are being built up about this car are getting out of hand. The GT-R with almost 8 lbs / hp will more than have its hands full with a Z06 that is only carrying 6.3 lbs/hp, let alone a zr-1 that only carries 5.4 lbs/hp. Weight is the bane of performance and will affect handling more than acceleration. All the technogizmos in the world dont alter physics.

this is true./\ the zr1 or even a zo6 would be fun as shit to get behind the wheel and drive (or try to drive) on a daily basis. leave it to us americans for raw horsepower and torque. (IMO make FUN cars to drive).

Ill still stick to the GTR, yea power to weight is USUALLY the deciding factor, but you are testing AWD against a FR platform, and unless you get more weight over the rear wheels, IE. MR platforms, im just saying the ZR1 is going to have a hard time putting over 500whp to the ground.

^ what? the ZR1 makes 620hp at the crank, how will it not put down over 500 rwhp? With the way GM underrates their car, My best guess is it will dyno 575-580+ rwhp.

I think he is referring to getting traction, and not questioning the power output.

Power to weight is usually the deciding factor in drag races, but OVERALL weight is one of the big deciding factors in racetrack handling. That is why lotus exiges/miatas are about to kill a lot of supercars on the track despite only 2wd and skinny tires. AWD lets you put the power down sooner out of the corners, but is it enough to make up for having to decelerate and reign in 500 extra pounds every corner? Thats a pretty big handicap to overcome.

Its kind of like comparing the veyron against, i dunno, the MB SLR. Even with 300 hp advantage and awd, they both ap the ring at around 7'40 b/c of the massive weight the veyron is carrying. And Im pretty sure the ZR-1 aint spotting a GT-R 300 hp
