I realize recently the movies are all sequel...

probably they are lazy to think of new original characters.... so reuse old movies + new story == new movie.. earn quick bucks ... and do it again

^ it's been that way forever......look at the way they did horror movies. Freddy, jason, Michael mayers......all those had WAYYY to many sequels IMO.
