No. I did not. I said it's equal with the LSx series motors. They both have their strengths and weaknesses. Had I been brainwashed like you say I am, I would not be looking for an LS1 to replace my 98 GT.

I may have been a little optimistic about the S197 GTs, but I've seen timeslips of more than one going 12s stock. I concede I was wrong on the STis and Evos. I guess I heard wrong or something on those.

However the facts are:

03/04 Cobras WILL run mid 12s bonestock

They will handle over 800 rwhp and some have seen 1000rwhp, but I would go built about 700 thanks to the horrible ring to piston wall clearance Ford gave them.

LS1s are great motors, but have yet to see any making upwards of 600 on stock internals. The rods WILL NOT take it.

Read post 140 where you agreed with Meshrah, or whatever his name is, saying the only Mustangs that ran 12s were GT500s.

Ford had the Mustang into the 12s in 2000 with the 00 Cobra R.

wow. i <3 this thread.

damn where do i start.. here goes.

An 03-04 Cobra STOCK will run a very low 13 with the correct driver, and hell even a factory freak might pop the 12.9999 mark. but with Dr's they hit 12's consistantly. Then again the driver mod is needed.

now onto the 408lsx IRON block... That thing will ****ing ear rape a 4.6l motor all day, even the cobras get ***** slapped by them. N/A you can push 500hp or so. N/A!!! i dont see many cobras doing that.. wait they all need boost to do that..

Chalk one up for the general.

Hell Even if you went F/I to compete with a KB powered 4.6l your still going to get torn the **** up. i think at one point mighty mouse's old set up was 1000 hp on the ls1 block.

now a 408 lsx engine with a 91mm turbo would molest any cobra

lsx > 4.6

He said it was the only mustang the he knew of running 12's. Kind of like you saying evo's and sti's are 12 second cars. Everyone makes mistakes.

but seriously, in the 1/8 mile with my auto, i can drag a 400hp cobra from the hole and run a better time. good drivers are hard to find.

plus so what if their motor holds more power, they also cost twice as much in most cases..

Anybody know someone that owns a 00 cobra R? There are about 4 or 5 mustangs that run those times stock out of the 634859643 type of mustangs that were built. Any other mustang and you better start modding.
