Default Bumper Buildin'

i got sick of hitting my frt tow hooks on everything and my frt bumper was starting to get twisted pretty good, so spent all day yesterday at nhrockers house building a new frt bumper for my Jeep, we had a basic idea of what we wanted and went from there, the mounting plates are 1/4" steel plate that are held on by 14 bolts total, center section is 2x5 3/16 wall box tube, end pieces are 2x2 box tube and end plate are 3/16 plate, the bumper fits very snug to the frame rails and tucks up nice, heres pics of the day

start of the day involved taking of the stock bumper and steering box bolts, wich all 3 bolts and stupid alum spacer came out in one piece

next up was mounting plates, for a template we used a outer brace i got from Mitch when he scrapped his red Jeep

also relocated the vacum canister at that point, fits right behing the batt

center piece being cut

and getting tacked into place

lookin good

also decided to make a inner plate for the pass side to help spread the load

outer pieces tacked into place

2nd outer piece welded up

time to reinforce the dring tabs

outer plates welded in

and gusseted

all welding done

i still need to drill the holes for the drings and enlarge the back mounting hole, then clean up the bumper and paint/prime it, we started on it around noon and got done at 1am that included a hour long lunch break, for a one off first time bumper im very pleased with the results

no winch in this one, its more less for protection and better approach angle, will prob toss together a winch bumper in the future though
