Sticking it to the man!!!
|
Well, I am bored as hell and just wanted to establish a thread on my car and what I have done to it etc, improvements and what not, and what I'm planning on doing.
The car: a 97 mustang GT convertible with a whopping 215 crank hp from the factory ![]() Lets see here shit I've done... New fuel pump, wires, coils, plugs, brakes, engine, clutch and quadrant, 3.73 gears, o/r h-pipe, and flowmaster 3-chamber dumps off of a 5.0. I have purchased a set of bilstein shocks and struts to make the car handle better and of course mine are pretty much shot as it is, so why not upgrade.. Here is how my car is at the track....slow I ran it 2 nights ago, and finally broke into the 9's (1/8th of course) due to my new clutch and quadrant. I think my car is capable of mid 9.5's which believe it or not is actually pretty decent for my car... due to my 60' I don't have the slip on hand but I have rough estimates. r/t .25 (pb .06) 60' 2.36 (pb 2.1something) 1/8th 9.850 - my best with good room for improvement trap I think it was 72 or 74mph These were also ran with shitty and bald cheapo tires I have had for 2 years and many brake-torques in em. Future mods planned. PI = performance improved parts from 99-04 gt's, that actually benefit my motor more than theirs due to the compression. PI intake (purchased) set of comp cams ported PI heads Longtubes with applicable mid-pipe 17x9.5 rims and 17x10.5 rims for looks and traction T/B and plenum LCA's so I can ditch those shitty quad-shocks and get better traction And hope to be running mid to low 8's and 320-330 rwhp N/A with that setup, and possible spray in the future, and maybe a higher (numerical gear) Tell me what you think, and don't be a d1ck about it....please

Is insurance really the much more from a stang to a camaro???
My feedback? Get some spray. You can run a 100 shot all day long. Negligible sacrifice to engine life its properly tuned and may actually be more reliable than a high rpm n/a or supercharged set up, which is adding extra stress to your motor all the time. You will definitely feel the difference, and then you can transfer that to your next car if you decide to move on. |

My car is so slow right now, I could feel the difference taking my rear tire out. And yes, 2 tickets my insurance is 200 a month full coverage and for an ls1 its like mid 300's. I'm 20 years old.
With the top end stuff I'm buying, I'll be shifting at stock redline and then be thinking about spray afterwards. So, not much harm there.

If you are on a budget and don't want to be disappointed, STOP pouring $$$$ into that old ass 2V stang. The results in HP/ET gains wont reflect the $$$ you spend. It is just not worth it. Go find an 03/04 cobra or an LS1 based car and don't look back. I have seen it personally w/ my wifes cousin, he spent over $4000 in bolt-ons, suspension, exhaust , tires, and I still whooped his ass, and he had a newer 2V than yours, his is a 2004 GT. They are just not a great platform for taking to mods well. Now FI maybe another story, but then you are talking big bucks.

Well, obviously you didn't see the insurance post I had. And also, it is a hella of a lot more economical to modify my car than it is an LS1 or 03/04 cobra factoring the price and insurance on those vehicles. I can afford both but not with my insurance. Now I give you this, if I didn't have to buy the vehicles or get insurance I would switch it up.
And yet again you still fail to see what I have included in my posts. Regarding my time, that was with a shitty 60' and shitty tires. Still, it is a slow time nonetheless, but I pretty much have a stock car with gears and exhaust. This is a project thread not a lets make you feel like an asshat for your purchase thread, and fail to notice that you have factored in at buying another vehicle and it wouldn't work thread. Please read the posts before you make an assbag comment. -thanks
