Get some good tires and see what kind of improvements can be had, and practice launching your carr too. Those 2 factors should bring you down to low 14's at the least. And if you are a single guy, and have no need for back seat passengers, lose the seat and anything else that you can go with out for weight reduction. Also, choose a day to race when the weather is cool (60's are good) and the humidity levels are low.

Just to play devil's advocate for a moment.. you say that insurance is what's holding you back from upgrading and that it will cost you about 150 more a month if you were to upgrade. On the otherhand, you just dropped 2200 on heads and will still have to spend more just to match a stock LS1/03 cobra. Depending on what it will cost you for a trade in, dont you think you might come ahead from upgrading to a new car?
If you mod, you will be spending the money all upfront, whereas with upgrading the car, the higher insurance costs are spread out which is useful in conserving your cash flow. When it comes time to sell, you will not be able to recoup any of the mod money from the car unless you decide to part it out, which is a hassle. You will have owned an new car for over 14 months before it exceeds the cost of those heads alone. The longer you own the new car, the lower you insurance will be, which again, supports the case of upgrading. if you want to stay with this car, get the tires and the spray and call it a day. you will get decent times and you can swap on to any other car afterwards. Take it from a guy who chose an "inferior" platform (LT1 instead of LS1) before too... its better to sell. Quote:

150 a month more just on insurance let alone price for a car loan when you have no credit, so lets see here 350 + 450 + price of gas a month = 1200 out of my 1600 I make a month. Yeah its not going to work.
And its 2200 for cams and heads that I haven't purchased yet. ![]()

I(we) were not really picking on you dude. I have just seen to many people piss away their hard earned cash on mods for an older 2V and not have the desired results, therefor they get bummed out and end up getting out of the game by selling their car and taking even more of a loss.
I say, just wait untill your $$ situation gets better and get a better modding platform. Till then, spray and tires are your best bet for desired results.

The only other mustangs I have beaten have all been of the 5.0 genre fox or sn-95, only mustangs that have beaten me were 4.6s. Get out of here with your bullshit. You would be lucky to have 200whp in you mexicaned out 5.0
:edit sounded harsh but sorry man Also, it really isn't a waste in my eyes I can't get much for my car right now as it is so why not put a mild build on it and have fun with till around 25 with a better job and insurance with that nasty cam sound. Also I would love to take a week off for vacation and do this all on my own with a few buds. probably the comp 270's I honestly don't mind having a slower car than others I just want some raw N/A power for cheap, 2200 is cheap in my eyes do the work myself accomplish something and run 8's by the time I get real bored and have cheaper insurance and more pay, move on to an LSX based motor

The heads and intake and exhaust and UD pulley are great ideas, but I wouldn't dig into doing the cams on that 2V if I were you. I remember an older show on Spike TV, called horsepower TV and they did the cam swap and then tuned, then dyno'd and only picked up like 12 rwhp. What a fuking waste IMO. For the amount of work you have to do, that aint worth "just the sound". SPRAY THAT FUKER ALREADY !!!

So my buddies' LS1 got dyno'd yesterday and I felt like just doing one pull on the dyno to see what it made.
Made 202whp and 276trq, which.... believe it or not.... is very good for that motor. He also video tapes all the dynos he does. So here you guys go.
