Bugger the LS1 idea. Nightmare job I've been told.

The 304 with some mods make plenty of power. My mates VN Calais would fry first and 2nd, and chirp 3rd (sometimes step sideways a bit). His had head,cam, intake work(not sure what) and had been retuned using the Delco software thats around, ie retuning the standard computer.

Or you could do what a mate did, and throw on 2 ebay turbos, wastegates, make a plenum, custom twin entry IC and twin tb's, ecu and make 640rwhp in circuit trim! No drag special!

On a side note we call the standard manifold- the bananas!

Well the ls1 conversion would probably cost the same as a decent stroker, then the 5ltr would be heading to the end of its capabilities, get a cam and some other small mods in the ls1 and it will eat the stroker and still have heaps left.

Thats the way I am looking at it.
