Default Modifying my 1.4s Golf (MK4)

I am in serious need of wanting to make my car (A 1999 MK4 VW Golf 1.4s) alot faster than it already is, i no there isnt much you can do as its a 1.4 and maybe not as good as the 1.6 model but still in the world of tuning anything can be done to anearly any car to make it faster!

If anyone could give me some good ideas which arent really going to cripple me in terms of money then please post everything you no!

I am also looking for some interior parts possibly off a gti or a the v6 model, these parts would mainly be the leather seats or the bucket version if anyone is selling either of these then please again let me know!

Thanks everyone in advance for your help!
Mike

If India: hang 3 cows in front of it and let them tow; you'll be a lot faster

Modding a 1.4 isn't going to make it fast in any way, but you could make it fast "for beiing a 1.4" if that is what you want?

Cheap mod would be a K&N; better sound...

for the rest .... don't really know

Edith tells me you could lowered it first of all Faster corners give you a thrill also

thanks to everyone for replying, im from the UK for the person who asked, the idea isnt to make it a fast car, just faster for its engine size maybe to keep up with some of the lil pocket rockets such as a corsa them sort of cars.

what would be the best kind of engine to drop into it if i was to do that....? n is there a way you can get round it from the insurance company.

also i was looking on a website n they reckon that with the right air filter/induction kit, straight through exhaust, n maybe a chip it will be a lot faster and very fast for a 1.4 anyone shed any light on this?

Thanks once again evryone
Mike

u will be lucky to gain 10hp off them mods.and corsa's and novas here have engine swaps.alot have turbo swaps with 200+ stock power.so u dont even have a slight chance with your 1.4 engine.sell the car and buy a fast one. or do a engine swap.but u will be spending £2000+ to make it near the speed of a corsa with a turbo lump..
