Default 1989 R31 Silhouette

This is my shitter :P

its a R31, its the Australian version non turbo, most of the japanese versions came turbo stock and had other goodies, but im not going to explain them here

check out Main Page - R31info if you want to know more about these cars.

Current

RB30E,done 270,000km's
curently has extractors, and a catback they are the only mods, dynoed at 120rwhp and its auto

curently best 1/4 mile 16.1 @ 134.5km/h, was 34 degrees celcius day might do 15.8-.9 if cooler

Plans

RB25 head ( to make it DOHC) RB30DE
Turbo possibly a TO4E or somethign similar, RB25 box, new LSD, rims must have dish aiming for 320rwhp and a mid 12 sec 1/4 mile

late night photo shoot with a friends 31

and another with different people this time, bright HIDs 6000k, the photo makes it look more blue than it is in real

burnout just b4 making a run, taken by phill

donor car, the s2 on far left

taking the engine out of the s2, note dodgy screw driver job

closer view, the bending actually prevented the chains from slipping, i still highly recommend NOT using a screw driver,

and yes the screw driver held engine+box

it will continue to serve us well

we had orignally planned to complete conversion during the easter weekend as we all had 4 days off each, however after removing the engine+box oout of the s2 we noticed the clutch line had snapped, i obviously didn't disconnect it, ooops!!! (its my first time taking an engine out k)

and so with that delay i decided to wait until next pay day when i could buy a new hose, + get new fuilds oil, filter etc
so a week later the crew arrive to gimme a hand with the silo

the engine thats done 280,000k's that is going to be taken out, much spirited driving has occurred with this engine

there were actually 3 of us under the car having a go at the tailshaft+gearbox, the shit just refused to come apart

just cos we can

and that concludes the first 2 weeks of something that should have only taken a weekend max, more news and pics comming up this weekend when hopefully the car will be complete, ready to run at the drags the following week, i have the new hose for the clutch, and everything else will be ready for upcommign weekend

cheers

here are some videos ive taken on a few cruises ive been on

theres many videos floatin aorund there was an R30 too hahaha
this is back in the days before nissan added curves to their skylines , the lines are straight and sharp, not eveeryone likes it :P

some people do use them in drift comps
YouTube - Nissan Skyline R31 in car drift practice

they weigh between 1300kg-1420kg so their fairly heavy but not too heavy, around same weight as an R32 gts or a S13 silvia

Luuuurve the R30!!!
Reading your plans though, def do not use a old school TO4E. Theres half a dozen better turbos.

Mod well!!

Just get a turbo manifold from a vl turbo or Ebay, and throw a turbo on the stock RB30. My mate has done this to his stock RB30 motor in his HR Holden ute and it made just over 180rwkw/240rwhp on 8psi. He has an extra injector operated by a Hobbs switch and is using a very small Supra intercooler (to fit behind the standard grille without cutting the car up)

The twin cam idea is nice, but imo, not really cost effective. If you really want the twin cam head, just put a complete RB25 into the bay.
