Thats pretty quick, but one thing that I hate is people that arnt prepared to keep a rotary in an RX, I know first gen RX7 are a dime a dozen, but a well built 13B turbo will make reliable power and do a 12sec pass aswell. Oh well everyones tastes are different and I guess that what makes the world a different place, but youll never catch me driving a V8 Powered RX7, Ill stick to what made the RX an RX

Only way I would ever drive a RX-7 or mazda anything for that matter would be if it had a v8 in it. The sound, the torque, the and the price make it great in my opinion. You could put a totally stock LS1 motor and trans in a RX7 and it will do 12s, totally stock. No need to change anything on the ls1 and it will do 12s with that car, you can get a ls1 motor and trans with low miles for like under 5 grand. I would take a LS1 over a rotary motor in a heartbeat, JMO.

Stock Vs. Stock you will watch a LS1 walk all over a rotary motor.

Give it up Joe SS
You can have ya lumpy V8 and thats fine, but its obvious you've never been taken for a drive in a well built rotary. It's not mazdas fault that they can build a stylish motorcar with an extrodanary engine that works exceptionaly well when put together. Blame Ford or GM for not building a stylish car with a V8. It saddens me when bullish remarks from narrow minded individuals say the rotary is shit V8's rule................It's just as bad as when rota heads think that V8's are shit and rotarys rule. Every motors got it place and not one is better than the other. A rotary belongs in an RX7 end of story. ![]() Last edited by crazyboosta; 22 Mar 2005 at 02:12 am. |

Why do people always bag on V8s?
Is it like penis envy, but with motors? Seriously, what is wrong with them? They make lots of power and get great gas mileage too... so whats the big deal? You can get a nice amount of power out of a Rotory or 4 or 6 cylinder too... I like anything fast. The new C6 Z06 doesn't even have to pay the gas guzzler tax the mileage is so good, and still makes 500hp and 475tq. Any car enthusiast can appreciate that. |

Im not trashing on rotary engines but just comenting on the LS1s power stock. The LS1 is not even being pushed hard at all and making 300hp and getting good gas mileage with a all motor combo. Rotary sure can be built up to 300 hp and they rightfully came in the RX-7, this is true but again I would much rather take a stock LS1 then a built to the edge of exploding rotary.
Everyone likes what ever makes them happy but when someone calls the car a "shit-7" that kinda erks me cause the motor and trans is worth like 5 times as much as the body. I have gotta rides in stock Rx-7s and let me tell you its nothing to write home about, but something tells me a rx-7 with a totally stock ls1 in it would be something to talk about. JMO
