That appears to be the RX7 that was in the Option Speed trials in ~2000. Every run it did- even in the wet, was over 300km/h with a top speed of 327km/h. the veilside brick, I mean R34, did 346km/h at the same event.

The engine in the RX7 is a 13b peripheral port.. Can't remember other specs, I'd have to watch the vid again to find out. Single turbo ~650 hp.

before all the hype of skyline i was looking into getting an rx7....but after reading all the problems of rotary and the price they were asking for the rx7's i said forget it..

but nice video and the skyline in this one looks nice....

I believe either way there is a very big potential to run into trouble. R32 GTR's by now if they haven't been rebuilt yet will more than likely be in need of one- they develop a knock in the bottom end, been told this is almost guarenteed.

The FD's problems stem from poor modifications, knowledge, an inadequate cooling system, and a massive snakes pit of hoses for the twin turbo operation. Convert to non sequential turbo operation or single turbo+Apexi PowerFC+ exhaust/dump+aluminum radiator and decent ic and you have a very reliable and powerful car if tuned right (many have seen 11's with these mods). A simple exhaust mod will lead to increase in boost and inevitable lean out and dead engine. I looked into all this very thoroughly as I was going to buy one for track work only.

And a RB26 rebuild is about 4-5 times more expensive than a 13b rebuild. Of course that will vary depending on how the engine is to begin with. Most RB26 rebuilds here in Aus seem to be around the 10k mark!!! I can't guarentee that but my mate who is a Skyline freak says that is why he won't buy a GTR.

The early rb26's had less block casting strength than the later ones and the oil pumps are prone to fail as well, causing the ill fated knock and engine failure.

When DRGAV popped his last engine, it was about 10g. mainly because they are a (unt to get out of the bay!!
Tho he's done this a couple of times. Gets expensive after a while!!
