Default My 7- skidpan fun!

Just a quick vid of me buggerising around on a recent skidpan/motokhana day. Thanks to one of the other guys at the day for filming and posting it up. (I'm on dialup and shit takes forever to do). Thought it was about time I got something of my car up, even if it isn't much!!!

Cheers, Glen.

That was the last time I really used it before I stripped it down to a bare shell. stripping weight, seam welding, cage, new suspension- custom valved Bilstein P30's, Eibach springs, bushes, swaybars, adj strut tops, the lot basically!!! Costing me more for this gear than what I've spent on the car since I've owned it (bought it in '97). I'm not messing around. Trying to do it once, properly. I've got a few FD's, GTR's, WRX's etc in my line of sight at the moment. It's all proven race gear and comparitive lap times of less powerful 1st gens (than mine) are very favourable.
Should be 'relatively' quick around the track once I'm done...

Currently waiting on Bilstein for the dampers.

Currently it has a 12a turbo in it- 'probably' making around 230rwhp- good for mid 13's.

I have a 13b peripheral port motor that is in need of a freshen up now. I have had it since '99. It came out of a state championship winning club car (in '97 if my info is correct) and dynoed 259rwhp. Hoping to get closer to 280rwhp after the rebuild. This is n/a and is perfectly suited to what I want. Hi pressure oil pump, lightened, balanced, carbon seals, baffled sump etc. It is a full race na engine no shortcuts were taken on the original build.

The wing surprisingly only weighs a bit over 1.5kg's (3.3 pounds)! Its the front bar/spoiler assembly that I need to take weight out of, it's surprisingly heavy. I had the car on a weighbridge before I stripped it and it was 1100kg (2425 pounds) with me in it, all interior, spare wheel, stereo etc. Hoping to get it down to 1000kg (2200 pounds) with me in it but thats a big ask imo. With all the crap remove and race seats etc it 'may' be possible.

The setup I am buying for the car has been proven many times. But I don't need to comply to the rules for that particular class so I'll be running wider tyres and rims, 15x9 on the rear and 15x8 on front with most likely Re55 semi-slicks. Hopefully with a bit more power than that class normally runs and bigger tyres my lap times will be at least as quick if not a bit quicker. The class I'm talking baout is called Improved Production here in Australia and has a pretty big following.

Cheers, Glen.

sounds a very good plan on the car.i take it all the carpet is out and sound dentening from behind the dash ect.?when stripping a 106 for track, bit of it was coming out 5kg and heavyer.

do u plan on getting poly windows also init?another thing what takes a good few KG off.if ur going mad get a old dash and cut it in half or as much as u can and dont need in the car.thats if u can live with it like that if ur driving it on the road.

mmm i bet a 280hp N/A rotor must sound great

All the interior trim is already removed. The dash is next but I plan retaining the stock looking dash when finished.. The sound deadner stuff is gonna be a bit of a nuisance to remove but I know there is something to be gained there. I may possibly go to fibreglass guards and bonnet but the standard parts really don't have a lot of weight in them. And the car will still retain rego so I have to be a little bit careful with what I do, haha!

I did have a video of the 13b pp on here when we put it in a mates car for some 1/8th mile drag action but it was taken down some time ago.
