Really? Hmmm...because the 2 C6Z06s that were at the track rental with us were not quite "right there" Both of these cars had heads, cam, headers, and drag radial (+540 rwhp each) and they did break into the 10s but the ZR1 still had a faster ET and trap. But you are going to do it with just headers or a tune?

The C6Z06 had been out now for 4+ years and in that time there have been 1000s of drag strip passes by 1000s of drvier. From all those runs, 1 guy (Jamie Furman) ran a 10 bone stock (in -1700 DA air) and 3 guys (Jamie, Ranger, Dr Ron) have done a stock 10 on DRs. The ZR1 has been out for a year and only a handful of them have made it to the track. It took Ranger +50 passes to get a 10 in his Z06 and it took just 5 passes for him get a DR 10 in the ZR1 and it is a very differnt car to drag race. He admits that he is no where near dialed in on the ZR1 as he is on his car yet. I ran a bone stock 11.05 my first day out in the ZR1, having not drag raced a manual tranny car in 8 years, and then the 10.85 my second track day with the car. We have just scratched the surface with this car and expect to see 10.7s on street tires and 10.5s on DRs at some point.

I think with the same gearing as the Z06 it would be even faster.
Yes, the ZR1 has a much taller 1st-3rd gear than the Z06. The gears are not the best for drag racing. Though, in a hwy roll-on the ZR1 walks away pretty easy.

Don't get me wrong I think the Z06 is one of the best performance bangs for the buck out there. The ZR1 is just the ultimate GT in that it is faster in every way but yet more comfortable and easy to drive on the street. Sure you can mod the Z06 to match or best some of the performance aspects of the ZR1 but you will never get the total package without going above the ZR1 cost.

We put the drag radials on late in the day and that is when Ranger took some passes (I did all the stock tire passes). He only did 3 passes, hot lapped, in a row. Every single one was a 10.73x. He did pull a 1.68 60' time on the last pass but it was not the best ET as the car may have been heating up some. We are just scratching the surface on the drag radial we have confidence that we will see 10.5s once we get a little more experience with the DRs.

My fathers. I am happy to drive it for him though.
Things have worked out that I was able to get a house in the same neighborhood as my parent (great for babysitting) so I have pretty good access to the car when I want.

I decided I was going to run the car on the stock tires in totally as delivered condition and thats what I did. The traction was OK off the line but was not very good much past the starting line and the 2nd gear shift and subsequent loss of traction and occasional wheel hop and throttle lift on many runs cost me some et and mph but overall I was pleased with the results as it was my first time in the car at the track. All the runs are in chronilogical order to the time of day I ran and as you can see I even hot lapped the car on a few occasions. Overall I would say there is no question the ZR1 is the fastest American Factory Production car ever! The single slip picture was my shakedown run and all the runs that follow are in order.

You can defend the ZR1 until your heart pops for all I care. All I was saying is that I can grab up a c6 Zo6 for a much better price (40K+ in savings over the Zr1) and have nearly the same performance, considering driving factors are the same.

As far as 1/4, they are close in performance. But there is more to them that that, if you want to go fast I am sure you could buy a DR car that runs damn near 3 seconds faster for cheaper

^ true that.....but why is anyone over here concerned about much more than the 1/4 mile? It's not like we have the "ring" over here in the USA.

^ they both have a bad ass stock suspension set up, so drivability would be similar. Only big difference would be the brakes on the ZR1 being way better.

We don't have a ring but we have many great road courses and just plain ole nice back roads to have fun on
