The jeep held him off for a while. Good thing for him they went from a dig.

^ Disagree, that only tests a limited amount of the vehicles performance. I don't like how so many races ignore stand-still starts, but they aren't the only way to do business.
Getting out on the highway and doing a high speed run is a valid race.

^ true, but then again, that can take launching skill out of the equation and make one car seem faster than the other due to a retarded driver.

Yes. The stand-still start does require more of the driver. While the rolling start isn't truly a vehicle vs vehicle only, its closer to it than the dig.
Now, ultimately, it'd be nice to see a standing mile race. I think the 1/4 or even 1/8th (which is what most street races are), place too much emphasis on the launch. A slower car that can really move out can punch way above his weight class if the race is short enough.

If you are racing it should be more on the driver. That's the whole point of racing. To prove you have a faster car and that you are a better driver than the other person. If someone has a car that they don't know how to take off from a start maybe they should get something with less power.

those jeeps are fast
i think the best race would be from a dig until top speed. first it shows how well you can drive your car then when you can put the pedal to floor your car takes over
