I'd say the new Camaro V8 in 2010 will be 3800lbs at it's lightest and just under 3900lbs at it's heaviest (hardtop version).
2009+ Musclecars are all going to have 20" Rims, the other new popular options, like on-star/ nav system, bluetooth, side air bags etc are going to add weight fast. GM's 2006 GTO weighed in at 3725lbs. |

These new musclecars are packing some serious HP from the factory stock, therefore you need some serious hardware to hold the power, plus it's got to hold the extra HP from aftermarket performance shops.
If the weight is approximately what I think, with 435fwhp (to trump the Challenger) and GM has done a fantastic job. At 4000lb, manufacturer has done an above average job; 4200lb, manufacturer has done an average job. At the end of the day your getting Corvette power @ Camaro PRICE. Something has to give, so I guess it'll start off with the carbon fiber, and plastic body parts. The new GTR or GT500 no long seem heavy eh.... ![]() Not to go further off subject, but cars making 500RWHP +, such as the new Viper, ZR1, GT40 all weigh in the 3400lb class. Althou the GT40 is substancially more expensive, at approximately that price and HP, thay are all similar in weight. |
