that might be to much cam for an auto, you will have to get atleast 3.73 gears and a killer tune. I still say for you to go w/ the texas speed 228R cam, you will see great under the curve power and nice mid range and a bad ass top end increase. Plus that 228R has less aggressive lobes and you won't have to change the valve springs often.....if you get the PRC duel gold .660 lift springs.

He's right, even a 224 will show nice gains. And if your worried about the idle, don't be. Just dial it down a few notches and play with the timing and you'll get all the lope you'll want with streetable idle and no surging. Sounds good, alot like a street/strip setup if you ask me.

^ I guess you didn't take my advice on reading up on cams then did you? The damn size does not matter as much as the tuning does. Mine is not that big of a cam and I make only moderate power when it comes to cams and I have a killer tuner. If you go too big in an auto DD car, then you will end up hating your car, driveability is gunna be shit. You will have stalling issues depending on the weather, you will have a problem w/ a stall and a big cam, the converter does not always wanna lock up. Seriously, a smaller, higher revving cam, can and will produce power through out the RPM range better than a big cam will, big cams tend to perform their best in the upper RPM range. A more moderate cam will give you good power and great TQ all the way to redline. It's your car, do what you want, but I have been there done that w/ the LS1. I have done or helped w/ 7 cam swaps now and have seen the results first hand. The 228R made 390 rwhp and 379 rwtq on my friends 1999 z28, and he has mild bolt-ons and that was w/ 120,000 miles on the clock. A more freash engine could have produced even better #'s.
