Not arguing with you, but motorcyclist magazine claims they did a 9 second pass on an '06 R1, I can only assume that they post data on stock bikes, but they also have professional drag racers to test them.

Since selling my bike, I havent followed up on the latest buzz so I will take your word for it!! holy crap that is fast... times sure have changed!

Keep in mind that unlike cars, the results you get from your own bike will be far slower than the mag tests. They get 120 lb guys like ricky gadson who can pull off a 1.3 short time that 99.99% of regular street guys will never get close to. Case in point... how many street riders do you know can put their current 600's into the high 10's like the the pro's do? Magazines where getting 10's out of 600's back in the mid-90's with far less powerful and heavier bikes (the ZX6R was the first to hit 10's, which I owned.. and the fastest I could get out of it was a 11.70 on a so-so 1.8 short)

Wow, I didn't realise there was that big of a gulf between what the bike was capable of and what ordinary people could pull off.

Maybe I just suck
Seriously tho.. the difference between a great rider and a average street rider is way bigger than a pro car driver and a street car driver.

Nevermind the skill difference between racer and average joe, look at the difference between a ex -racer magazine rider and a pro drag racer:
YouTube - 06 ZX-14 Ninja Drag
Barely breaking into the 9's

Ricky gadson rode a stock version of the same bike to a 9.60 and a lightly modified version (lowered/strapped) to a 9.30!!!!

Ricky Gadson perfect launch of the ZX-14 - Video Bikes ^^ ATV

Reminds me of a crash scene I saw pictures of a couple days ago. Rider crashed into the back of a semi. His helmet made a hole in the door, and his body hung from it. Not a very bloody scene, but his shoes were missing from dragging on the ground.

As for the video, damn could that CamAro driver baby it any more?
I agree about skill and confidence playing a larger part on a bike. I've beaten a number of bikes that I knew should have won, if they had a better rider....to include an R1.

I was surprised that the viper was as far back in the pack as he was, Im guessing he wasnt using the spray on all of those runs.
