S2k aren't that fast. Taking them out of the hole isn't hard if you know what you are doing. For all you know the S2k could have tried to launch but like botlefed said he probably bogged by not launching high enough. Just because it doesn't look like he launched doesn't mean he didn't try. And the cobalt is fairly easy to launch without spin the wheels excessively. Hell I've out launched a S2k without spinning my tires. It's all about controlling the throttle.
As far as it pulling on the M3 from the beginning he could have been in a lower gear than he should have which would have added another shift. That would account for not pulling on him right away.

I could pull a carrera gt across up to the intersection if the driver was snoozing but that doesnt mean squat...b/c i would get blow away right after that. Nobody races 60 ft's. Forgot the if's, could of's etc. Bottom line is the s2000 is a 14 second car trapping 100 mph in the average drivers hands, and incase you missed the memo, that isnt fast. Hell, an altima family sedan with a stick will give an s2k a serious race.
Funny how honda's own brochure and every car magazine lists curb weight at 2855 lbs. When you say your buddy's s2000 was weighed at 2400 lbs "empty" what do you mean? No oil, coolant, gas, battery, transmission etc? lol. If you are talking about just gasoline, consider that gas weighs 6.1 lbs / gallon... so even if your buddy was at 1/4 tank, thats only a savings of 60 lbs. Science of speed's project s2000 stripped out race car weighs 2500 lbs with no interior, aluminum suspension pieces, fuel cell, etc. But somehow, your buddy's stock s2000 weighs less. Maybe your buddy got the jdm super-handling type r model that comes factory with 450 lbs less than what everyone else got. ![]() Quote:

You're right, these races were pretty dry, but it's funny to see a "lowly" Cobalt, mildly modded, put a smack down on a couple "superior" sportscars with almighty "German Engineering" & "Japanese Technology" maybe that shit should stick to magazine racing.
