Well, the Trans Am(I don't know exactly what has been done to it). But he should get some slicks(that's why slicks were designed) so the car doesn't fishtail during takeoff, those seconds can mean the difference between winning or losing. Let's see, lightweight wheels. For every pound the wheel weighs, it Also the Trans Am should get pretty much everything available for it from SLP(including modified ram air intake system), Granatelli Motorsports, ProCharger supercharger, a NOS fogger style system, chrome JE Pistons, hone the cylinders, Comp camshaft, Port and Polish the heads, titanium valvetrain components, forged connecting rods and crankshaft, high flow fuel pump, and high flow fuel injectors, platinum spark splugs, high end s/plug wires, a grounding system, everything MSD Ignition makes for the T/A (LS1). Aluminum or Carbon Fiber driveshaft, change out the differential, change out the torque converter for a high perfomance torque converter. Fuel Mapping software and a chip wouldn't hurt.

**for every pound a wheel weighs while not in motion, it becomes 9 pounds when it is rotating due to centrifugal force. So you do the math, a 40 pound wheel, will weigh approx. 360 pounds.

yup but... "Run what ya brung and hope ya brung enough" applies to more than HP. I'm also with memphis here, trailer and nitrous seem a bit off, especially the trailering part. If it's a street race then drive it TO the race, not just during. the TA needed those tires from the red celica

I want a few minutes of my life back, that was possibly the most boring video on the planet. I don't need to see the night video light up the turbocharged stickers and hood, or anything else. Just show me the race. And as much as I like that song, it was completely out of place and boring in that video. Terrible choice, my mouse hovered over the stop button to get rid of it.
On the race itself? No one said what mods were done to each, so one could have had far more under the hood than the other. I know some people like to keep it all secret, but I can't stand that. On the trailered car too. Its a street car right? So drive it, don't trailer it.

To 95 Bat, some Used 2006 Corvette ZO6's, you know the yellow ones, cost around $70K +. As do the new Shelby Cobras/ GT 500's, Saleens etc. So if you get like $15K to $20K 2002 Trans Am Ram Air, one could probably drop in an LS7, or do all that other mods I mentioned earlier(I forgot to mention a lightweight flywheel would help too) you would still be under the price of a new ZO6 Corvette, which I have seen the prices go as high as $80K.

To 01mmmZ28, well my intention was not to make it "sound simple" because it's not. It's a major project, but it can be done, perhaps not with an LS7, but with an LS2. It's not for a novice either, most likely one would have to take it to a shop that specializes in doing that. Plus, relocating the battery to the trunk is no biggie, just need an isolator. Car stereo shops can do that for you. As far as engine mounts and such, one can always cut and weld and custom fabricate. Just check how these guys dropped in a supercharged LS1 into the bay of a Mitsubishi Evo:
Video - Mitsubishi Evo 9 with a Vortech Supercharged 5.7L LS1 V8. its still being tuned at this very moment, S/C not quite hooked up just yet but bolted in. Where there is a will, there's a way. And yes, some Corvette ZO6's do cost well over $70K, and there are some, like you mentioned, in the $64.5K to $67K price range. I've seen them go as high as $88.6K for the Ron Fellows edition.
