AWESOME! Sounds like the engine sucks hell alot of cubic liters
BUT hey that's not a bad thing (except for your gass tank) coz that's where the torque comes inn

Actually, that motor is set up the EXACT same as the C5R race car is set up. It makes alot more HP than torque, since torque is not as much of a factor on a tight race course as HP is. Torque is a lot better for drag cars to get you out of the hole. I saw the #'s from that motor posted on ls1tech., thing made 850hp and 580tq, and had a redline of 8100 rpms

well considering the race weight of the C5R is around 3000 lbs even, 500+ ft lbs of tq is plenty to sling it out of a corner. I know what you are saying, but the straight lines on the road courses is where the C5R really shines and w/ 850 hp, it owns the competition. And w/ the way these drivers are skilled, their heel toe shifting should allow them to keep them in their peak tq band while cornering, then slingshot out of the corner as soon as the apex is reached.

Agreed with the fact that 3000lbs and 500+ftlbs is plenty good as long as its in a usable part of the power band... But with the sequential gearbox's that those cars have, it eliminates the need to "heal toe".. They shift like the LMP cars, just not on steering wheel.
Not trying to start a war, just trying to share facts... Now if only my new 306 Im putting in my car made that kinda power..... I can only dream....

I have actually gotten to sit in the C5R, it was on a GM display when I went to Orlando a few years ago. It was a tight fit for me(6'3" 240lbs) , but it had a manual tranny w/ 6 speed gearbox, maybe the one you saw was updated or just for a different driver.

Your right... a couple years ago they were running manual Tranny's in the C5R.But in the last year they ran the C5R they tested the sequential gear box and are now running it full time in the C6R..
Oh and it wasnt only a 6 speed that they ran in the C5R... depending on the track they would run a 5 speed.
