it's at http://www.deienchevrolet.com/ (1.800.427.0092-ask for Tim Deien) in Trenton Illinois. about 20 miles east of St. Louis. they told me they need $11,500 to recoup their losses on it (i'm now blacklisted there), but it's been there for 2 years now. had a new turbo, fresh heads, and probably a cracked piston when i traded it. they gave me $8,500 as trade value. Sy #1542 is for sale at Si Vallet Auto Sales (618.327.3000) in Nashville, il (50 mi. east of STL on I-64). i went and drove it last week. it's repainted blue-cheaply, has some ****-ugly Lund stick on hood scoops, and a humongous disgusting spoiler on it. it also has 2 a-pillar guages, and a supplemental H20 temp guage hacked into it. it was out of tune, and the turbo is weak. it wouldn't spool up whe i tried a boost launch. it would roll out 10-15 feet and then start making pressure. that may be a wastegate issue, too, though. My main ***** about 1542 was the lack of oiginality, and the gasket maker smeared all over the motor and intercooler. price was $12,995. i wouldn't give $9,000 with all the shit they stuck on to it.
sorry for the long post, but i wanted you to know what i know.

"****-ugly"...LMAO...thats funny as hell LMAO!!!!!!!

Anyway....BLUE? Aweeeeeee........WHY BLUE? Damn...that sounds sick...does it look good? I have a HORRIBLE image in my head....eeeweee!

Anyway, back to your "old" Sy...
Did you tear the engine down or let it go as is? If the piston was busted..chances are good the block needed some work if not replaced all together. I went to the site but unfortunally didn't see it listed...I could've over looked it too........Do you know IF the truck has been repaired at all?(was the body straight..ever wrecked...flood damage etc.... ;-)

I hope you see this thread by Monday....I'm going to call them Monday but NOT mention I have "spoke" with the previous owner and see what they say (or admit) about the truck!

Thanks for all your help in this matter...(and possible sale)

Gracie

(I'm also in the market for a Typhoon if you know where one is available....I would be able to SEE and 'inspect' it...but would have it hauled (professionally) back to my home in NC.)

Thanks again!

1542 is a gorgeous shade of super-dark blue. but it was done by amateurs. so, good color, bad paint job. they didn't take the bed off to get to the back of the cab, and it was wet sanded through to primer in a spot or 2.
1962- i left the motor alone. i had the heads and turbo rebuilt/replaced, and had a ton of money in that project alone. with a baby on the way, i couldn't justify spending another nickel on that. when i took the salesman on a ride in the sy, i got into the turbo a little bit, and when we got back, it sounded like it had just munched a lifter. when i was in there recently, they told me it had a hole in the piston. before i bought it, it had been repainted-really badly. like sub-Maaco quality. and someone hacked in a sun roof. the turbo shop that did the heads/turbo managed to set the carpet on fire via stereo wiring (?), so there's a hole burned behind the seat.
it's not listed on the web page because it's back on the 'lot of shame' with the beater Celebrities and forgotten Sunbirds.
