No, it's not just my opinion. Does the Corvette have pushrods, low specific output, and leaf springs? Yes it does. I didn't say anything about whether or not the low tech parts work...because we know they work damn well. Compared to a new M5 though, the Z06 is lacking in technology. Just so you know, the Corvette race car you are try to compare has very little to do with the street car. The first thing they do with the race car is ditch the leaf springs and put on some quality coilovers. That should tell you something. Is the build quality up to the import brands? No, and every published report agrees with that. Sit in one of these if you want to see build quality. Does the car perform? Of course. I never said it didn't. That's the reason I'll buy one. I dont see how people drink that sh*t.Well when you finally buy one, first thing Im going to ask you is how the Kentuckian Ape Drape Sled feels !! :thumb: Back on topic here, the Z06 was running a 100hp shot and apparently had problems in the second run. Its unclear what they are but the owner is posting over here http://racingsouthwest.com/forums/in...howtopic=21478 so hopefully we will know what the problem was.

Alright you primitive screw-heads, listen up. See this? This is my boomstick! It's a 12-gauge double-barreled Remington. S-Mart's top of the line. You can find this in the sporting goods department. That's right, this sweet baby was made in Grand Rapids, Michigan; retails for about one hundred nine, ninety-five. It's got a walnut stock, cobalt blue steel, and a hair trigger. That's right, shop smart, shop S-Mart! |

And I'm not talking about the corvette race car... I think it went in the CTS caddy. The race series (i can't remember the name) requires that every part that is on the car is in a factory production car, so they don't take off leaf springs and put on coil-overs unless they are available on a GM production car. So with all production parts, GM is lapping the field... "technology" is not keeping up with "low tech" GM ... so which is really better? ![]() Don't get me wrong here, I LOVE anything fast or fun to drive, no matter who makes it. I just hate the reputation GM has. Sure, Mercedes has incredibly luxurious cars, but Mercedes lost $1.1 billion the first half of 2005. That luxury costs money to produce and when you don't sell cars, you lose over a billion dollars. BMW is nice too, but I was not impressed with my old roommates 2004 325i. It is nothing special to me and way over priced. |

The new V10 powered M5 makes its peak 385 lb.-ft. of torque at 6100 rpm. The new V8 powered Z06 makes 385 lb.-ft. of torque at 1600 rpm It then goes on to make 470 peak torque at 4800 rpm. That is ownage right there. ![]() |
