Default Scary Crash

Happened in front of me at one of the races earlier this year... Good thing the mechanics were looking in the right direction. You've also got to love that even when he's sliding along the wall, if you look carefully you can see he's winding in opposite lock to correct. Yeah, that's gonna work with no front wheels on the ground.

If you look carefully, the other end of the pit was where the next race group was gridding up already and was full of people/cars. Its also just a generally crazy idea to think you can thread the needle at 100+ through the entire length of the pitlane.

As for the '08 Gti, most car manufacturers release the new model year cars three or four months before the calendar year changes. Fairly common knowledge, and the reason why car manufacturers run big sales in the fall to clear out old inventory before the new ones arrive. Take a look at your local VW dealer's inventory to see my point.

Yeah, he walked away just fine and we made sure to drop off a couple six packs for the mechanics at the end of the day.

Love the APR program. I was down in their direction for a race anyway, so I stopped by their home offices to get the reflash and was very impressed. A lot of their R&D setup would seem more at home on an upper level pro team than at a tuning shop, and their staff were solid. Definitely a far cry from a lot of the other tuning shops I've seen where there seemed to be more testosterone than engineering knowledge around. Also, if you have a relatively new VW, they don't actually have to replace anything; they can just reflash the factory chip and still give you access to on the fly program switching.

Good reaction. If hadn't done what he did that other driver would have probably been dead, possibly along with himself.
