German Trabant vs. Romanian ARO. If your car is made of plastic, don't try this. Specialy if you are dragging a car twice as heavy as yours.

i've been on the highway in a first gen renault 4 (603cc) top speed in a downhill was 70 km/h with a rear wind. rigs would blow us off by the side when they passed. if i didn't shit meself was prolly out of constipation...
the funky part was the 3 speed tranny had an horizontal lever coming out just below the dash and you had to pull it to engage the clutch or something, twist 90 degrees and release for first, another 90 for second and so on... i don't remember it well. i was like 9 or 10 years old at the time... have no clue how he reversed that thing... just like a 2cv re-wrapped i think |

I know that, my dad had a couple of them running around his warehouse, he used them to do small jobs or pick up parts to fix the trucks. My dadīs were the late model ones with a 1.1l 37hp engine from the Renault 5.
There was a team that raced one in the WRC against the celicas and escort cosworth, and it showed that people had a real soft spot for them cuz spectators waited for hours just to see the Renault 4 pass by, and rally organizor begged for them not too quit so the fans wouldnt be disapointed.
