The story:
driving at 180km/h all along IN paris, next to him the camera operator who was controling the film speed (which wasnt accelerated) Burning all red lights. At this moment (lelouch) is expecting spectators to press the brake (because they feel the speed!) the point of the film being "running through paris in seconds with the idea of a man being late for a meeting" Claude Lelouch got the idea, being a ponctual man, late one day, being crucial to get to his meeting on time, running through reds, going into one ways, taking useless risks. Two problems occured, having 510 seconds not more not less to do the entire trajectory, and the perfect timing for the last 10 seconds of film (girl arriving). Secondly, the insurance of having no accident and coming out in one piece, to insure : 5h30 AM in august. Yet no roads were blocked since he couldnt get authorisation, so a car or person could of poped out of nowhere at any given moment. (prays to have quarter second reflexes) his third assistant was stationned at Le louvre (museum) underpass since its a dead angle and he had a walkie talkie to warn him, but after realized the walkie talkies were never working. He got arrested after, the commissioner said: after listing ALL the laws he had broken (he was feeling like a kid that had done something wrong!) and named all infractions (30 mins) _ Give me your license please. Lelouch (the moment isnt good to negociate anything) he hands over his license in regret, the commissioner takes a look during a couple of seconds and hands it back with a huge smile : _ i told myself i was going to remove your license, yet i didnt precise for how long. and adds: My kids LOVE your little movie! the trajectory : Bd Périphérique · Avenue Foch · Place Charles-de-Gaulle · Av des Champs-Elysées · Place de la Concorde · Quai des Tuileries · Place du Carrousel · Rue de Rohan · Avenue de l'Opéra · Place de l'Opéra · Rue Halévy · Rue de la Chaussée d'Antin · Place d'Estienne d'Orves · Rue Blanche · Rue Pigalle · Place Pigalle · Bd de Clichy · (tournant abandonné à Rue Lepic) · Rue Caulaincourt · Avenue Junot · Place Marcel Aymé · Rue Norvins · Place du Tertre · Rue Ste-Eleuthère · Rue Azais · Place du Parvis du Sacré Cœur

Its said that Réne Arnoux, the F1 driver was involved and did the driving. Actually many french F1 drivers have been said to have participated in that movie has the driver, but none were ever confirmed.
The car is a Merc SLC450 and it was edited with the sound of a Ferrari 275GTB over it. I have this movie in DVD and when you play it loud you can tell in the downshifts and when he gets back on the throttle that the sound doesn´t match. |
