Talking Bathurst - Mount Panorama Curcuit!!

The GT-R's success in motor racing was formidable, particularly in the annual race at the Mount Panorama circuit in Bathurst, Australia, where the champion three years running was a GT-R (despite receiving additional weight penalties in years two and three due to its unbeatable performance), and in the Japanese GT series where it has remained dominant up to the present day.

yeah they were a great car for their era

but considering their only rival was the cosworths well you figure it out :P
most of the other cars were over powered rwd V8's
and the GTR had the complete package

and hence why they were removed and V8 SUPERCARS WAS BORN
though mark skaife whom drove the gtr to victory is still in the game its still in
a over powered rwd v8sc that are restricted (as most cars are)

but yeah its always good to see footage of the old days
cheers for that much appreciated.

I must admit thought, The GTR's were the dominant force in the ATCC for 2 years (91 and 91) and were a compete package. But you get that when you have 4 times the budget of any other team. Money buys you race wins, always has, always will

The R32 is my all time favourite touring car (fu.k the R33 and 34) I was 12 when I saw these cars at my local track (Winton)

At the time they were pretty much the only current model car- The Sierras were aging, the E30 M3 always put up a good fight but they were basically an older car than the GTR. The Commodores don't get a mention cos they were so slow (at the time, lucky to get a Bathurst win but it was 6 or so years between race wins in the ATCC iirc, Peter Brock breaking the drought at Amaroo I think)

As for the money side, it is certainly true. Nothing was stopping other manufacturers/ sponsors from entering except the fact that all the money in the world will not make up for an (I won't say inferior cos I love all of those cars of that era) older, poorer spec'd car.

A pity we don't have the diversity in cars that there once was.

I love all the models for the GTR preferebly R34's. I was hooked on them ever since my stay in Chiba when a pack of R34's blew past me and my dad at 270k/mh
