Alright, so I don't post much. But I figured this video would put a smile on at least a few faces. The audio isn't all that hot, so you may need to turn it up.
http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...8418&q=tk42one I was driving home in my 2004 KIA Optima when I saw this joker fail to navigate what I call Dead Man's Curve. The curve isn't all that bad, but many a car has gone off-roading in the rain from taking it too fast. And no, I didn't stop to help him. That's why I'm a Cold Hearted Bastard. TK |

you should ALWAYS stop to help because no criminals ever act like they are broken down to get people to stop and then rob them. thats all lies, it never happens, everyone in this world is a good loving member of society. at least here in detroit they are.

your an idiot thats what you are...
i always stop if i see someone needs help...if they are jsut sitting in thier car then what ever but if they are on the side of the road on the highway with the hazards or anything liek that i tend to pull over and see if they need help...

not saying you have to stop but if you see someone smashed his car onto the side of the road i don't think a person who will jack you would fake his accident...they would do soemthing like a flat tire or something..

when i was still on my learner's permit i spun off an elevated exit ramp (there was ice and it was raining) and my escort got stuck in the mud, at 4am. i'd have managed to get it out and on the road but a nosy passerby thought i needed the assistance and called the cops. (despite my i repeatedly tellin him im fine and the towing guy is on his way). i know they were just trying to help, but i wish they left the decision to me. so yeah, stuff happens.

In all honesty, I don't give a rip what any of you think. But in the interest of explaining my actions to incite your wrath further, here's what happened.
During the night in question (December 5th, 2005), after 6 hours of snowfall, I heading home after a long day at work. I grew up here in VA, but spent 5+ years in the snow belt of PA (just 20 miles south of Erie). So my winter driving skills before college were on par with 90% of the population here, in the gutter. After I returned to the area, I felt more confident in my driving skills in the winter. But I had lost all confidence in the skills of other people. When conditions allow, I speed. Until my recent opportunity to acquire 8 points on my license. Now I drive no more than 10 miles above the speed limit. Technically, still breaking the law. During this particular night, I was driving faster than traffic around me. Just previous to this, I drove for about 15 miles on a 4 lane major state road. Everyone but me was driving between 20 mph and 30 mph. I had no issue with that. They should have been driving that slow. Me? I was driving 55 mph. The speed limit. But I didn't have an accident because I knew how to drive, I knew the limits of my car, and I knew the road conditions. How many of you test the road in the winter before you leave the house? As to the road I live on (the same road you saw in the video), it's a minor local road, paved, no lines, and has a very high center crown. The speed limit is 45 mph. I've been known to drive in excess of 70 mph and have all four tires go off the ground, but on this night, I was driving about 20 mph, maybe 25 mph. The roads had not been treated, nor plowed. I had only my experience (about 3 years worth) of driving this road and the tracks in front of me from previous drivers. Now the good part. Why did I leave this person on the side of the road? Simply put, I'm more important than they were. Not only did I risk getting my car hit by another (it's a blind curve at both ends), I also risked getting my car stuck (remember, we got 7 inches of snow that night and I'm in a car that has barely 3 inches clearance). In addition, I would have risked getting hit myself by a car. I was in no way worried about getting mugged or car-jacked. The truck and driver appeared to be in good condition with no smoke, gas, fluids, or blood flying or leaking out of anywhere. In the end, I made the decision that getting home to see my wife and daughter was more important that stopping to help. Could I have helped? Sure, I could have called a tow truck. Seriously, was I supposed to dig their truck out with my bare hands? Push them out of the ditch? Put your thinking hats on folks. Yes, I'm a Cold-Hearted-Bastard. And like I said in the beginning, I don't really give a rip what you think. But the next time you drive by a car on the shoulder of the road in the middle of summer in the heart of whatever city is near you, think about me driving by that truck. Are you going to stop and push their car the 5 miles to the nearest gas station? Are you going to drop their transmission and work on repairing their gears? Flame away. |
