maybe because of the driver, not the driving?
still dl'ing it but i'll check back with comments and what not ![]() i've seen this before. just goes to show you that even with less power, a superior handling car can beat a much faster car. I do belive the skyline was stock but both 86's prob cost less than the stock r34 ![]()

And youve based this off of...what? And your experience working with/tuning the 4age is? Your experience with boosted 20vs?
Btw; strong rumor is toyota originaly planned to turbo the silver 20v, but changed its mind- i remember hearing about that even from yasin, if ur talking about the 4age like that- i seriously hope you know who he is (hes up there with the likes of bill sherwood) Last edited by Sidewaysgts; 24 Aug 2005 at 08:33 pm. |

Well if you would have actually read bill sherwoods webpage I guess you would know what I'm basing that off of. Also I have heard that the 20 valves factory HP numbers are over rated and are more like 140.
I used to work with a guy who had a MAP gze in a fx16gt-s. That little thing was a blast to drive. Last I heard he drives a Typhoon now.

Bill sherwood says flat out he doesnt know much about the 20vs, and doesnt have much experience with them. The general rules of getting more power out of them is the same as the 16v engines- larger cams, higher compression, faster revs. The 20vs are capable of just as much power as the 16v version, but will have a wider power band because of the extra valve. Their blocks are just as strong as the redtop versions of the 16v and even the 4agze.
I cant comment on boosting a blacktop, but i know for sure the silvertop can take some serious boost if only equiped with low compression pistons- and once again the power band is much better compared to the 16v because of the 5 valves. The silver should be able to handle more boost then the blacktop though, the conrods are a fair bit beefier in comparison |

If you're gonna go through the trouble of boosting it anyway you might as well use the GZE block with a 20v head if you wanna use the 20v. Are you sure he (Bill) said that? On his webpage? I coulda sworn I read on his page that the 16v is a better choice because of something with the the way the air flows in the 20v. Either way the 4ag is still an awesome lil engine for such small displacement. And btw this is coming from a mustang guy. Luckily I once had the pleasure of owning a rolla gt-s.
