Nice gesture tucking me in and all but the touching was a bit much don't you think? When I made my original comment I wasn't attacking anybody or calling names or any of that childish crap. I was just stating the facts and apparently people on this board get all defensive when they realize they were wrong. I apoligize for hurting everyones sensitive little feelings. I'll go back to the real world now.

It's funny how no one knows that the straps used at 10,000 pound tested straps. And they use 2 of them. Last I checked a 4000 pound vehicle with even 1000 ft pounds of torque doesn't equal 20,000 pounds. Not even under a shock load situation.

So what the straps broke, quit arguing about what went wrong! I give the driver two thumbs up on stopping that beast before it went off the platform! That was some fooking quick reactions! :bump:

actually, i think that slappa has a valid point. i just posted what i saw somewhere else. i think the straps would be hooked up towards the back, away from open headers.

and sick, i dont think thats the way that those ratings work...

Yea but that thing probably had slicks on it and hooked up since the tires were spinning and heating up. Also im not so sure those were open headers if you pause the vid you can see what looks like black tubes coming out of the headers and when the car first stops (if you blink you'll miss it) a ball of fire appears under the car. Only thing i can think of that would make a ball of fire under the car would be the exhaust.

This happened at the Car Craft Summer Nationals here in St. Paul, MN a week and a half ago. I was there and the straps which were in the rear, were somehow resting against the mufflers and melted through. Awesome reaction by the driver. That thing had the dyno pegged at 1200rwhp when the straps broke! I believe the run before this one he put down somewhere in the 900's, then turned on the spray for this run.
