Thats insanely fast. Ive never liked the 3rd gen look, but you cant argue with success; its very aero friendly/stable and a very popular platform for bonneville land speed recordds. If I recall correctly, a stock bodied '92 Trans Am went 300.7 mph in '99... first stock bodied car to exceed 300 mph.

Technically he is wrong..there are cars with lower .cd than 0.29, BUT name me one that has the ability to stuff a motor powerful enough to reach this kind of speed? (i.e. I doubt highly you can swap a 1400 hp+ motor that will last for the duration of a top speed run into a Toyota Prius). Secondly, low coefficient of drag isnt the only piece of the puzzle. At 200 mph plus, stability is paramount. There are very few cars that have low drag and lift.

If AMG, an (inhouse) tuner, had the fastest street legal car, Im sure they would start to care.

using AMG: both the current and last generation S-class have less than 0.29, the 1989 opel calibra was in 89 the most aerodynamic coupe in the world and one of those was the fastest street legal dragster in europe

and **** yeah im irritated!!! how dare a pontiac beat us in our backyard!!! if only they painted it red and put a prancing horse on the hood to desguise it... lol

Like I said before, there are other cars with the same, or lower .cd, but while important, its not the only thing that determines max top speed. You also need to know the frontal area to calculate total drag. Then you need to know lift numbers to know how stable its going to be. In any case, the proof is in the pudding, and the 3rd gen (despite the mullet/red neck connotations) just happens to be one of the best platforms for max top speed. Name me another stock bodied car that has gone 250mph, let alone 300 mph. Its a small list.
