Hypermiling is a new kind of motor-sport. Instead of focusing on speed, hypermilers see just how much gas mileage they can squeeze out of their vehicles. Hypermiling can be as much fun as other motor-sports and Ford has unveiled new technology aimed at getting more consumers in on the fun. The 2010 Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan hybrids will feature a “Smart Gauge” dedicated to coaching gas saving driving techniques.

hypermilers are annoying as shit to drive behind.

and I call bullshit on the part " Hypermiling can be as much fun as other motor-sports ".
driving turtle speed and coasting in miles before stoplights/signs is boooooring.

****ing Ford.

ive been doing that since i started driving manuals... when nobody is behind me ill throw that shit in a higher gear and cruise at like 1000rpm. hahaha back when i had my pos nissan that i didnt care about.. but i always throw the manuals in neutral a few hundred feet before getting to top of a hill. im still doing speedlimit by time i hit the top then all that kinetic energy will get me like 25mph over the limit when i start rolling down the other side and roll for a mile or 2... ive got it timed out for my neighborhood. pull in the neighborhood and do 23mph as im passin the 1st mailbox. then straight down into neutral. it gives me enough speed to make it around the turn up a hill. and down the hill. and if i dont come to a complete stop i can make a turn and another into my driveway.. hahaha ballin

When I delivered pizza, there was one spot in town I could coast for a mile or so if I got all greenlights. I get a huge sense of accomplishment when I drive pretty quick (even by south florida standards) around town and still get 2 mpg over my car's city rating just because I know to stomp the gas and short shift.
