GM dead stops ZR1 production and dramatically slows C6 and C6 Z06 production. All order numbers for upcoming ZR1s have disappeared from the site and from BG/NCM. Saw this info on a vette only site. Seems as if some folks on a popular auction site maybe thinking profit margin on the ZR1s they hold. If GM doesn't resume production or cancels the car altogether, you could see $500,000.00 or more for one of these before the year end.

I'mg guessing this is where he saw it: DigitalCorvettes.com - [BREAKING NEWS] ZR1 production has stopped - model may have been cancelled.
However: GM on Corvette ZR1 cancellation rumor: "Not true." - Autoblog |

Thanks for putting up the links, Talon. I'm not sure who to belive, but it doesn't effect me either way since I neither own one or have one ordered, but I'd be inclinded to disbelive anything from a big company right now, the way things are economically. "Not True" just seems like a band aid until they want news to break. Earlier in the week I read that there would be no "C7" vettes until possibly 2014..which is 3 years past when the C6 was supposed to end. Who knows right now, it's all nutty, but I have a sneaky feeling that by the time I'm ready to buy a Viper or ZR1 in the next 3-5 years, all I'll be able to find is used, over priced ones because the new ones won't be being built....

actually, they said it would be the "SS" or Stingray...I actually said, "hey, GM re-registered the ZR1 name, so maybe that'll be what they call it...", lol. Anyways, everybody was speculating months and years ago about this car, so you can't really point fingers at a site or a person for speculation. FWIW, 638HP isn't that far away from 700HP, and maybe they did push the envelope on the early tests, hell, I heard of one ZR1 TT prototype burning to the ground at GM proving grounds..heheh. ANyways, like I said before, maybe it's true, maybe not, I'm not impacted either way at this point. Would've been nice to snatch one of those up if they do cease production, hell, the way the market is, you could sell it and buy 3-4 houses..lol.

I don't know where people are getting the ZR1 is cancelled, ALL corvette production has been stopped. Now I am thinking that the 200 or so ZR1's that have been made might be the last of the 2009 model year.

Well since all auto sales have plummeted in the past month and the $25 billion loan won't actually be seen until 2010, it's not surprising that GM would suspend a low profit bragging rights car until they have more money.
