This weekend when I was at the local store saw the cover of Car & Drivers Feb 08/08 magazine, which shows the new ZR1.
It's a sneak preview of the ZR1, but after looking through it they had a contest 0-200MPH-0. I remember a couple years ago when they did this test 0-150MPH-0, show I bought it. A total of five (5) cars were involved, this is what they did cost etc., 2006 Lingenfelter Z06 Twin Turbo, Cost with mods $288,540 & DNF (Did not finish) 1st run, driver screwed up, 2nd run there equipment did record info, 3rd run car was making unhealthy noises so they didnt do any other runs. Apparently (whick I dont believe) driver missed a gear car revvd to 8878 and cracked a piston & valve. C&D let them come back 4 weeks later and in 15 degrees cooler weather; 0-200MPH = 18.9 SEC 1/4mi = 11.3 SEC @ 147MPH Stop = 1089ft 0-200MPH-0 = 27.0 SEC 2005 Saleen S7 Twin Turbo Cost $598,950 (No mods stock car) 0-200MPH = 38.2 sec, 1/4mi 11.6 @ 138MPH Stop 1147 ft 0-200MPH-0 = 49.6 SEC 2007 Heffner Lamborghini Cost with mods $239,400 0-200MPH = 25.7 sec 1/4mi 11.3 @ 137MPH Stop 1770ft 0-200MPH-0 = 37.6 SEC 2006 Hennessey Venom 1000 TWIN TURBO Cost with mods $190,445 0-200MPH = 22.0 SEC 1/4mi = 11.1 @ 145MPH Stop = 1127ft 0-200MPH-0 = 30.7 SEC 2006 Heffner FORD GT1000TT Cost with mods $212,645 0-200MPH = 18.9 SEC 1/4mi = 10.6 SEC @ 152MPH Stop = 1089ft 0-200MPH-0 = 26.5 SEC Get this the Ford GT, stock crank, rods, pistons, (stock motor) clutch, transaxle, gear, stock brake calipers & pads. I've heard of guys saying the motor can handle over 1000RWHP on the stock motor. I believe it now cause the GT above had 933RWHP or 1098bhp. Amazing results by all cars. |

u learn how to read also. the word ''LIKE THIS'' meaning its not the same..and also its a differnt mag. learn how to read.ROAD and TRACK and Car & Drivers are not the same magazine.strange that isnt it?

Saw this last year, what a differance a year makes.
What I didn't like about Road & Track was they didn't list the mods (but you can pretty much guess) and most importantly COST, The above comparsion was done on 93 octane fuel, no nitrous, no water cooled brakes. To bad they didnt say if they had cats or not. The Lambo above is the Gallardo. Out of the top three mags Motortrend, Road & Track, Car & Driver, Car & Driver in my opinion is the most accurate & reputable when comparing vechiles. Quote:

^ sorry man, not try'n to bust your bubble here.....but car & liar is just as bad as the rest of them. They are bias twords whomever gives them the most advertising $$$. Go through your collection of mags and you will see what I am saying. Example: I was looking through mine ( long time ago ) and noticed an ad for the GMC yukon.....next big ad layout was for the GMC sierra truck.....nest was an Envoy ad.....then a few others, but they were mainly ads for GMC trucks/SUV's......and guess what? there was 2 seperate articles that according to their "oh-so-accurate" point system of scoring vehicles on comparison tests, other competitors technically won, but the drivers and editors made the final decision of the winners based off of shit that nothing to do w/ the comparison. So, if Ford steps up one month and has a stang ad, focus ad, F-150 ad, and a explorer ad........check to see who the winners are in that months comparisons.......it's all about marketing and putting money in the pockets of the head honchos.

Dont think at all your trying to bust my bubble.
I think Car & Driver is the best out of the three mentioned. Your 100% right about who ever dumps the most $$$ usually wins the comparsion in the magazines. In the test above the each manufacturer brought there own driver. In mag there also was a comparsion of small SUV Escape, liberty, RAV4, Cr-v nad was surprsied to see the Liberty finish last and dont agree with the RAV4 being the winner. Another thing that was surprising they tested the 08 STI and it hit 13.6 @ 102 mph slower than last years and noted what i have known for years to get that time & mph requires 6000RPM launches.
