Just throw a viper motor in the new zr1 so it can make real power!

^ why down grade?

The LS3 is not a forged motor, but it can handle plenty of power. A local guy has a regular C6 w/ the LS3 and all he did was a cam/exhaust/tuning and he knocked out 505rwhp and 494rwtq. Now add heads and more bolt-ons and you will see 550-560 rwhp N/A !!!! No need for a turbo or blower IMO, the compression ratio is to high for either to perform to its maximum, so you would have to change out the pistons and that is a biotch to do and not worth it. I say, stay N/A.

Oh- and the LS9 does have forged parts

Isn't the ls9 a modified ls3 because the ls7 walls were to thin?

Quote taken from motor trends website:

"The engine is based on a modified LS3 6.2-liter block (the LS7's cylinder walls are too thin to withstand boost) and is expected to produce 100 horsepower/liter."

^ yes, based on........The current GM engine series of "LS" motors are all "BASED ON" the LS1. It's not the same motor. The GMC sierra pickup truck has the 5.3L....which is "Based" off the LS1 platform as well. All the current and recent past "LS" motors are all based off each other. Many have the same parts, many have different parts. It is done that way for a reason, easy upgrades from platform to platform for the performance minded consumer.
