I was looking through some 2006 Cadillac DTS' on Autotrader and noticed that some have the gear selector on the steering column and some have it in the center console(like most sports cars). I just noticed that and thought I'd bring it up, maybe someone knows what's the deal behind that.

i haven't been able to find any pictures of what you are talking about on google images but ya know i didn't look to hard. the only reason that i have known a company to move the shifter from its normal position in the center console to the steering column is in the new police chargers but that is to make room for a computer and other cop toys that they "supposedly" need. i don't think that we will be seeing any cop car dts' unless they are like fbi or something but i doubt that. are u sure its a new one??? the previous generation deville had 2 options depending on if you chose to get a navigation system in which the column shifter would be in the way or atleast annoying in which they installed a center console shifter. but i dunno what exactly it was
