My name is Nathaniel. My dad just recently purchased a 2001 Silverado 2500HD w/6.6L. Now here's the problem....he spent 20G's cash on it, mind you it had 44K on the motor....and there was some pet dander in the truck. He has replaced the seats, carpet, steamed the headliner, bleached the heater core and all of the air vents, replaced the cabin filters in the truck, and cleaned behind the door panels. The truck is still effecting his asthma, and we don't know what to do to get this truck clean. Can't get rid of it, so it must be cleaned. If anyone has any advice or tips please post or email them to me at grandamitkid@gmail.com. Thank you all for everything. Hope this works.
Sincerely, Nathaniel

If he bought it from a dealer, he should definitely take it back there and tell them about the problem, they'll probably recondition the interior or refund the truck just to avoid the bad press he could give them. Did you do a carfax report to see if it was ever flooded out?

He bought the truck from a guy that used to take his monster truck up to NY with a fifth wheel. Apparently it was really dusty up there and that got into everything. He's cleaned everything, new carpet and seats, and the only thing untouched is the headliner. I don't know what to do about cleaning it/replacing it. Mind as well....everything else has been.....what's another few for a headliner.

I would look under the carpet, just because you steam cleaned it does not mean the mold or fungus can't still be there. I sounds like a flood recovered truck to me. Also the foam in the seats can hide alergins as well.

Flood!!!!
that is really the only explanation. you have basically done everything that would make a normal car clean so i would take it to someone that is willing to tear up the truck a bit to find out what is going on. or you can tear it up but thats your choice. but you will probably have to replace a lot of stuff or if it were my choice just sell it. and find something else
