You have to look at other factors too: i.e. the average salary in the US is only $37K. However, the marginal tax rate is lower in the US than Norway. Not sure about other cost of living expenses, though. With a much smaller population, its not hard to imagine why cars would be more expensive for them though.

Cars are costly in norway, but powerfull cars are insanly costly

Here are 4 examples

Audi A6 2.0TDI - 72 811,69$
Audi A6 4,2 - 201 392,92$

BMW 520d - 75 203,57$
BMW 550i - 203 345,12$

After a certain amount of HP (around 170) the goverment taxes each horsepower with almost 400$

We have so much taxes on horsepower that car manufactures are making special models for us. Like A4 1,6 102hp. Bmw 316i 115hp

And in speeding tickets.

To drive the speed of 67,11mph (108km/h) when there are a speed limit of 50mph (80km/h) gives you a ticket at the amount of 1 143,18$ and you get 2 dots on your license, if u get 8 you loose it.

I just got this ticket

Tuning is still "free"
Like if u not get caugt.

Then you get a bill from the state for the horsepower tax
