PS2 "Disc Read Error"

none of my dvd's or games will work in my ps2, all i get is a disc rear error. it wont even play brand new dvd's. so wtf is wrong with it? should i go and buy one of them cleaning cd's?

you have a dirty lenz and you'll have to take it apart (if you have the old one) and clean the lenz with a Q-tip and rubbing alcohol. Thats how i fixed mine. The cleaning c/d didn't work.

im thinkin it must be a dirty lense, it worked fine untill i put in my Jay and Silent Bob Dvd with i recently got cleaned at the video store and it had some residue on it,

so how do i do the rubbin alcohol trick? just dip the q tip in the acohol and then rub it on the lense?

The same thing happened with mine and my girl's, I read that you can clean the laser eye somehow, but it's really sensitive so you can't use one of those brush cds. Also, there are case mods that claim to get rid of the problem, but I have no idea if they work or not.

thanks a bunch memphis and drackov did the q tip and rubbing acohol trick and it works fine now, yiu know the lazer is dirty when ya can see dirt on it just from cleanin the lazer, now im gonna go and watch an evening with kevin smith 2, evening harder

i had a ps2 that did that ..but it was the series 1 ps2 ween it first came out .. i gave up on it after i had 2 more and they did the same thing .. i went to xbox and i havent had a Single problem ... even tho i dropped it from 6 ft in teh air onto concrete :-/ the disc tray sticks a lil.... but it still works absolutly fine

Any tips on fixin that disc tray from stickin?

I actually know the problem with the disc read error, its a playstation. Its just like a nintendo, you have blow on the disc and slam it in there just right.
