That was already disscussed and disproved on many other boards/forums. The owners idea of a "tune" as far as an explaination was BS. They upped the boost by 12 psi, or so it was told.

A tune on a turbo car usually consists of turning up the boost and tuning for the higher boost pressure.

my idea of a tune is a pcm tune, that is all the car has. so the car responds better than a civic to a tune.

and for the record the boost was upped 4psi not 12

the car is tuned the exact same way every other car i have owned from mustangs to corvettes, you make a file upload via a tuner

there is no magic there, but the car responds better

n/a cars on average will pick up 5 to 15 from a tune
super charged cars usually 20-40
turbo cars 40-60

there is more in the programming than just boost, there is also torque management in the trans to help the launch, bumping the rev limiter, etc..

and to be honest, there is quite a bit left in the car too

so, if you know of a better way to define a tune, please let me know

Well i have worked with a friend of mine "tuning" the 1.8t vag/audi 20 valves engines, increasing the boost is part of the tune along with spark advance and proper fuel delivery obviously
For me, tune means taking all you can out of the car/engine "without!" touching it mechanically, in this case the only thing was removing the air filter(witch does help, even more on turbos).

Starting price of 38k is pretty steep for a "taurus" imo... impressive though. I'd take the Mustang 1st, even at that price
